Well, to discover, we're pressing our β€ 2,000 Toyota Land Cruiser, Land Rover Discovery and Mercedes ML to the limitation to see which lasts the longest.
They're no longer road-worthy, but which can last the longest when pressed to full throttle? First off, let's take a closer take a look at the competitors:
Beginning with the Discovery 3, it's powered by a 2.7-litre V6 that produces 190hp and 440Nm. It's equipped with a 6-speed manual and weighs 2,419 kg. It was first launched in 2005, we bought it for β€ 1,500, and it presently has 256,000 miles on the clock.
Up next is the Mercedes ML. There's a 2.7-litre inline-5 turbo diesel under the bonnet, and this produces 163hp and 400Nm. It's equipped with a 5-speed automatic gearbox, weighs around 2,100 kg, and was launched in 2005. We purchased it for β€ 1,800, and it has 140,000 miles on the clock.
Finally, we pertain to the Land Cruiser. It's powered by a 4.7-litre V8, and this puts down 235hp and 434Nm. It rolls up with a 4-speed automated transmission, and it weighs 2,260 kg. It was originally launched in 2002, and although it was initially bought for β€ 5,000, it's just worth around β€ 2,000 now. To date, it's run around 282,000 miles.
