Jim Clark then Surtees

Guess what….for me Juan Manuel Fangio because he was understated and always quicker by enough margin to win..whoever he raced against. Then I recall the pre War racers…Brave, brave men in cars that were lethal..Luigi Villoresi, Rodolf Carraciola, Richard Seaman, Manfred Von Brauchitsch now few of your readers will have ever heard of them but they deserve the special place reserved for great drivers. Later…so many more but yes, Jim Clark, John Surtees and Sir Stirling Moss were those great drivers that had that special ability that most of us can never achieve. Current F1…astonishing skills abound, but I don’t really like the people, the regulated words, the total commercialism….so yes, I’m the one wearing the “old school” badge.🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

For me it’s Jim Clark….41years after his death and he still holds about 6 or 7 unbeaten records today….in a time with more than double the races and double the opportunities. Got to remember Jim Clark was a full time farmer while racing F1, Indy and Rally
Been so many good and great drivers but very few are legends like Clark, Moss, Stewart, Lauda, Schumacher Sr, Senna, Prost, Fangio and many more….to class the current drivers as legends is to early to call.
Some may not like this but I can’t class Hamilton as a legend…yeah his records are off the charts but I think he hurt/damaged the sport abit when he started pushing “racism in F1” and the driving force of BLM in F1…..especially when f1 has had drivers from all over the world….think it’s over 40 countries since it’s been Formula One and more before the rebranding of Grand Prix
