I drove an older Duster through the terrible roads in Madagascar. They’re no joke and run quite well.

A few years ago, a taxi driver took us through the mountains with a Dacia Logan and it made it to the top! Many other higher cars were broken on the side of the road. It even had 300000 km

The new Dacia Duster is *WAY* cooler than the older version in my opinion.

Id prob still take the Toyota lol. Partially bc we dont even get Dacia in the US. Partially bc i’ve had absolutely AMAZING history and experience with toyotas since the 80s. They’ve never let me down personally.

Fun fact: Dacia was on basic tires, while the Toyota was on offroad tires, and that did not stop the Dacia from winning. Of course weight and power are factor, but the GRIP is really important.

If you are like me, an overlander living and exploring in Africa, you will know this is a fun but pointless comparison. It completely misses the point of a hardcore 4×4, such as the Cruizer. Load each vehicle with all the equipment, fuel etc required for traversing the unknown, and the Duster will lose this duel with the Toyota hands down. Reliability and durability are key. Here, your life can depend on it.
