@ 1st series was always cheaper, and lower quality than 3 series.

Look at the shape: the Golf is boxy, the Audi is a “Sportback”, the AMG has a small wing, and the BMW is a Kia.

Cars today have more shape and charackter than all the old boxes which are all just the same rectangle.

@@dom3827 Maybe a bit off topic but I remember playing Gran Turismo 1 & all the 100s of cars looked totally different & unique. When engineers & designers made cars for themselves & hoped people liked them

Bmw stopped making good hot hatches when they stopped making the m140. That was a thing of beauty. If it rained it tried to kill you, if there was snow it wouldn’t move. But it was rapid, cheap and easy to tune, and that 3.0 straight 6 with rear wheel drive was a thing of beauty. Bmw dropped the ball when they stopped making that. In this line up it would have been the best. Only the a45 and rs3 beats it in a straight line, but it cost 20k less than them. I miss my old m140.
