I worked in the motor trade for 10 years. I only ever drove one V12 Q7, and a handful of V10 Touareg’s. There was always something special about the 2000’s crazy engined VAG cars.

@ Trust me man, the motor trade may seem great. Hell, iv’e driven Lamborghini’s, McLaren’s, Ferrari’s, Porsches, Maserati’s, basically anything you can think of. But it’s a bad trade to be in and it always messes people up. Far too many reasons to explain, but it’s bad. Sure, driving SVR’s and AMG’s down the A38 is brilliant, but the rest of the job is always torture and makes you hate cars. Part of my way over-worked position was to test drive every single car that came in. BCA doesn’t auction good cars, if they’re good, BCA sells them through Cinch. I love cars and always have, but the hatred I had for them towards the end of working with them was borderline PTSD. Mixed with the extremely toxic work atmosphere and pay that was nowhere near enough, it’s just a bad circle all round. And it’s all motor trades that are like that, believe me.

I watched Jayemm’s old review of a V12 Q7 recently. I think I remember him saying that the 1000nm of torque it produced was actually the reduced figure, since that was the upper limit of what the poor gearbox could handle lol
