Presenting the Porsche Mission S!

It's an all-new flagship that follows on from the Porsche 918 Spyder, and it's designed to take the fight to the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini!

It's been 13 years since the 918 Spyder was revealed, so is the brand new Mission S a suitable successor? Let's take a closer look, starting with the design …

From the outdoors, the Objective S looks like a collection of Porsche's greatest hits! The headlights are providing classic 911, the incredibly low front end advises us of GT1 racing cars and trucks from the 90s, and the vertical panel behind the front wheel arches easily returns the Carrera GT! Elsewhere, there's a big scoop placed at the centre of the roofing system to assist smooth airflow, however the most significant feature of the Objective S's outside is a massive fan sticking out of the rear bodywork! It's a retro-inspired cooling service that's been lifted from 1970s racing automobiles, such as the Porsche 917. Lastly, low down you'll discover a massive diffuser, flanked by a set of quad-tailpipes – nice!

The retro-inspiration advances the within the Objective S – beginning with the fact there's NO infotainment screen! However, there is a mount for your phone, so Apple CarPlay and Android Vehicle are just a touch away. What's more, the reality that there's no infotainment screen suggests you're dealt with to physical controls for the heating and ventilation! Porsche has actually likewise done away with a huge slab of screen for the dial screen, and instead included no less than 5 dials for the motorist. The central rev counter, while having a screen behind it, still features an analogue needle – and it looks excellent!

When it comes to the engine and performance statistics? Well, we do not have any as of yet. However there's something we know for certain – the Mission S WILL be petrol-powered, and Porsche has actually validated the platform will accept ICE, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains! So when you think about that a 600hp dual-motor set-up is due for the upcoming all-electric Boxster, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that one of those motors could be contributed to the Objective S in addition to the 911 Turbo's twin-turbo flat 6 to produce more than 1000hp! However naturally, we're just hypothesizing in the meantime …

When it concerns the price … Well, we don't have that either. However for a brand new flagship Porsche, it's reasonable to assume you won't be getting much (if any!) modification from ₤ 300,000! But do you believe Porsche needs the Objective S when the 911 is such an extraordinary all-rounder? Let us know in the comments!

      I don’t know I don’t like the design much. The 918 and carrera gt looks timeless. This one has similar front daylight running lights to new Ferraris. Styling is kind of all over the place I also see gt3 at the front. Look up 918 on google images and compare it to this. It’s a step back

      Definitely some of those design elements are there, but I also thought it pays a bit of homage to the 904 Carrera GTS that Ferdinand Porsche himself had a hand in styling.

    5. @jeffk464 Avatar
      @jeffk464

      @dddd-uk4vn When they came out with the Panamera I thought they should make a 2dr short wheel base version, like a modern Porsche 928. That would have been a unique Porsche.

    4. @Katsumi-Tanaka Avatar
      @Katsumi-Tanaka

      @AndrewTSq Hybrid power is very helpful in the performance spectrum as it can fill torque gaps and add additional power when needed such as in takeovers. As long as the battery is small and relatively lightweight, it’s a nice bonus to have.

    Worth knowing: Porsche says the Mission S is not a one-off hypercar but a permanent mid-engine platform above the 911. No power figures confirmed yet, but those four tailpipes have everyone guessing. Flat-six hybrid or V8, what’s your bet?

      @VINNE2019

    4. @DazieArt Avatar
      @DazieArt

      I can’t see them using a Naturally Aspirated engine with only 8,000 rpm redline (their current offerings spin over 9k), so probably the 911 Turbo engine tuned up and hybridized further to replace the former GT2 that used to be at this Price Point.

    5. @marial8235 Avatar
      @marial8235

      @DazieArt Wan’t Aston getting 1k hp out of Na engine? I can’t recall if it was a v8 or v12. It also revved ridiculously high. Porsche gets crazy power out of a NA flat six, so a flat8 would be crazy. Plus since this is top of the line vehicle it will likely weigh a little over nothing.

      If you wan’t feel like avery special boy with manual you don’t need something with nearly 1000HP. Cars with that much power benefit from fast dual clutch. 400HP well balanced car with manual is easily enough to enjoy the driving on track or windy roads.

      The Tesla Roadster with its ridiculous rockets, and design that is not even close to the nice concept car is not even an option. No need for 0-60 in 0.85 seconds or useless rockets. Porsche is a completely different league, to even compare them is absurd. Porsche is a driving machine, Tesla for show.
