It's time for a Toyota-on-Toyota off-road face-off!

We have actually got the famous Toyota Hilux going head-to-head with the brand new Toyota Land Cruiser. On paper, they're almost twins: both are powered by a 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel with 204hp and 500Nm of torque.

However as we understand, paper specifications don't win off-road battles!

The Hilux is among the world's most unbreakable pick-ups, including a leaf-sprung rear end and a rugged, no-nonsense technique to overcoming rocks. Nevertheless, it's facing off versus the new Land Cruiser – a tech-heavy monster loaded with off-roading functions, better expression, and a much shorter wheelbase.

Will the Hilux's simplicity and clearance suffice to remove its swank SUV brother or sister? Or will the Land Cruiser's modern-day off-road smarts make Mat appear like a hero?       @afrozbagh.because both cars are not new. Plus they are using same format of offroad testing. Mostly, if you know these cars and the format you don’t need to watch. You need to know that Truck and SUV are made for different purposes.

      The Aussies did a comprehensive test of the Hilux Vs it’s rivals, and it got battered. This Hilux certainly isn’t a true blue Hilux

    I just bought an Invincible 48v with Alpha E+ hardtop in February 2026. The Hilux is amazing for one single reason: Reliablity is a comfort I will chose ANYDAY over glitchy big screens, failing fancy gadgets and overengineering on the engine. I love the physical buttons everwhere and not to mention the 10 year/200.000km warranty on it. At 130km/h it’s amazingly quiet for a pickup and not bouncy at all. ‘But it has hard plastics’ yeah as if I rest my head on the dashboard or whatever. Peace of mind over a piece of junk any day…. EDIT: Same goes for the Lancruiser btw, unkilleable but price is a bit steep compared to the Hilux.
