China Just Killed the Land Rover Discovery!

Can a 7-seat Chinese SUV actually go toe-to-toe versus among the most difficult off-roaders there is? Well, we're about to discover as we take a Chery Tiggo 9 to an off-road course and run it in a series of obstacles versus a Land Rover Discovery!

On the face of it, you may think the Discovery would walk this, but exists more to the Chery than satisfies the eye? Let's take a better take a look at the stats …

Beginning with the Land Rover, it's powered by a 3-litre V6 diesel that can produce 306hp and 700Nm. This power is sent out to all 4 wheels, and it weighs in at 2,230 kg. It likewise comes with numerous functions to help it tackle this off-road course, including a main locking diff, air suspension, and a terrain action system which utilizes electronics to increase traction.

When it comes to the Chery, it's geared up with a 1.5-litre turbo fuel engine along with 3 electric motors, and these integrate to produce 430hp and 580Nm – more than the Discovery! It also has All Wheel Drive, and the weight is nearly comparable, tipping the scales at 2,233 kg. Nevertheless, apart from off-road mode, it has no smart surface driving features as discovered in the Disco.

      Matt has zero expertise really. All he knows is full send in cars he doesn’t own or have to pay to fix. The Disco don’t stand a chance. Letting the owner drive his own motor and who doesn’t do off road stuff.

      But misleading Tata Motors owns Range Rover so its should be India Vs Chinese car since we dont practically own any of are own car brands anymore I believe Morgan is still British owned and thats it 🙌

      This was a bad comparison; this was an Off-roader vs soccer mom vehicle. We need a real off roader, get a Denza B5 or B8, at least those are considered real off roaders. Cheery Tigo being tested with the great Land Rover? That’s like putting an amateur boxer against Ali 🤣

      To the dumb dumbs thinking this was an actual off roader from China. No, The Yangwang U8, Denza B5 or tank 700 are better examples that actually have proper off roading features, like a diff lock, that every off roader should have.

    Should have a third driver test both cars, someone who doesn’t own either car. That would be a great “seal the deal” test.

    Have to admit the Chery started making noises which don’t sound healthy from articulation test onward. Doesn’t inspire confidence about reliability or longevity.

    very fair putting the discovery on the bumpy side of the dirt during the drag race part, it almost going air born every few meters as it drove towards the cones didn’t affect it at all, and the owner admitting he has no experience driving off road at the end really was the chery on top.
