Chery is a Chinese car maker that's also the moms and dad business of 2 cars and truck brand names you may have become aware of – Jaecoo and Omoda.

However, following the release of numerous Jaecoo & Omoda cars and trucks in the UK, Chery has actually now revealed 2 cars of its own – the 5-seater Chery Tiggo 7, and the car we have here, the 7-seater Chery Tiggo 8!

Now, before we get into it, there's something you need to learn about the Tiggo 8 – the rate! You see, the entry-level vehicle begins with just ₤ 28,545, while the range-topping PHEV we have here costs simply ₤ 33,545!

The question is, are you better off choosing the Tiggo 8 over more pricey (and more recognized) European brands? Let's take a closer look …

Beginning with the design, the Tiggo 8 definitely has a premium feel and look. At the front, there's a large, diamond-like grille, flanked on either side by genuine air vents. Along the side, all versions of the automobile get satin roofing rails and chrome surrounds on the windows, and each door comes with pop-out door manages. At the back, there's a full-length light bar, however there's one key concern – a pair of a few of the fakest exhaust pipelines we have actually seen for a long time!

Step inside and you'll find a sturdy cabin. There are soft-touch products across the dash and high up on the doors, and the seats for both the motorist and traveler are extremely comfortable. There's a large infotainment screen in the centre of the dashboard that is simple to use and very responsive. If you spend for the upgraded 'Top' model, the vehicle comes jam-packed loaded with functions and tech, consisting of ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and heated & aerated seats in the front and middle rows!

The entry-level Tiggo 8 is powered by a 1.6-litre turbo gas engine that can deliver 147hp. The automobile we have here is the hybrid, which is geared up with a 1.5-litre turbo gas engine paired with an 18kWh battery, and these combine to produce 204hp. The hybrid is likewise good for a claimed range of 56 miles driving on EV power alone.

So, for those of you searching for a 7-seater SUV, should the Chery Tiggo 8 be at the top of your wish list? You'll require to stick with Mat to see for yourself!

    Someone tell Matt that the old USB is called A and the new one is called C

    1. @acde9355 Avatar
      @acde9355

      The EU has standardised the USB-C, but I don’t understand why some car manufacturers pretend the car owners still need a Type A. The USB cable is a fast replacing stuff which means most existing Type A cables have gone, and the compatibility of old ones is quickly becoming unnecessary.

      @acde9355 Talk about first world problems. These cars are sold world wide and USB type A is still very relevant in many parts of the world. Do you expect people to forcefully upgrade their phones, tablets, etc. just because we are now expected to keep up with the Jones.

    4. @muhammedranderee6093 Avatar
      @muhammedranderee6093

      No they haven’t. Chinese cars are more geared to provide luxury for the passenger. Therefore the front massaging & recline of the passenger seat and even the position of the USB ports are for the passenger.

    5. @Envio_jpcs Avatar
      @Envio_jpcs

      @FTFLCY Conspiracy theories aside, you can clearly see the massage function icon is above the RH drivers seat so the software has been updated for the UK market. However, they’ve either forgotten or neglected to fit the feature into the LH seat. Or, it could be that RH seat has the feature but the software hasn’t been coded to use it.

    Back in Ecuador (in case you don’t know, it’s a small country in South America), I had a 2017 Chery QQ, 1.0L engine with about 69 HP. At the time, it was the most basic model in the lineup, selling for about 12,000 USD, and it always came with the “maximum” equipment, which was basically just electric windows and A/C. Mechanically, the car was excellent. It never left us stranded, and I drove it for about 170,000 km all over the country, traveling through the coast, highlands (Sierra), and the Ecuadorian jungle on dirt roads (yes, unpaved). The Chinese make very austere things: weird finishes, copycat designs, etc. But mechanically, when they use tried-and-true components and the car fulfills its function, they are unbeatable in quality. Oh, and as for spare parts, I never had a problem finding parts that needed changing or for maintenance; for example, some parts from the Chevrolet Matiz were a direct fit.

    Cheers.

    2. @Bahle_Gaji Avatar
      @Bahle_Gaji

      @bigjmltoo bad, the more they sell the more RnD will go into future models, the more they’ll sell. Just accept the fact that they’re going to be dominating the market at a fraction of the price of current competitors

    3. @bigjml Avatar
      @bigjml

      @Bahle_GajiThat’s hilarious, they just steal IP and copy and paste other Manufacturers styling

      That will never change, it is how China have always done Business and how they will forever do Business

      Because they understand there are gullible simps the world over too broke to afford a decent car and are easily convinced to buy a Chinese No Name Brand Car.

      The CCP knows these people are too naive to realise nearly every Chinese Car Brand will be Bankrupt in 5/10 years time and all those Chinese “bargains” will be rusting away in a scrapyard due to lack of spares.
