Funfact:
The E-tron and Taycan were developed together, they sre pretty similar to each other (accpet intrior and outher shell -
@@Qwhx123a yep, similar thing with the boxster and cayman, and the supra a90 and the bmw z4. similar drivetrains, but everything else is different. except for the caymans ofc
-
β@@GrandSennaSame goes for the Urus, Q8 and the Cayenne(?) Panamera(?), I think.
-
@@SolaricAngel116 cayenne and panamera don’t look that similar, their engines could be the same. are you thinking of the cayenne and macan?
-
@@GrandSenna Yeah. I was thinking along the lines of the Cayenne and Macan (I forgot the Macan’s name until you pointed that out to me.)

Wait for the sensor to fail…
-
@@Kansirz That’s not the point. It’s that they over-engineered something that WILL break way before it is reasonable to do so. And what happens when it breaks when the battery is dead? You’re screwed.
-
Same exact thoughtπ
-
β@Kansirz the point is, if it fails it will likely get stuck inside. At least the others you could remove fairly easily, charge, and then go get it fixed when it’s convenient. “Keep It Simple Stupid” is an acronym for a reasonπ
-
@@Kansirz Warranties are rarely for 10+ years. Cars should be designed to last a lifetime, not until the warranty runs out.
One of my cars is 58 years old, and it all works.

-
Design team-“How much can we make from repairs?”
Engineers-“we got you”-
porsche taycan comes with a warranty, and that’s to be expected from a $100k+ ev with a deteriorating battery
-
β@@GrandSennathe problem these days is consumers like yourself who think cars should only last the warranty period.
-
β@@dougm7744 I wasn’t trying to imply that cars are meant to be last the entire warranty period, I just thought that porsche would still cover issues like this for as long as 10 years or so. I know computer power supplies under warranty for as long as 12 years which is a shame.
anyways, after I did some digging, I found out you can option a 2019 taycan without the charging port cover. apparently, a few taycan owners in a forum discussion experienced these covers failing 3 years after the car was released, and as porsche states on their website, they wouldn’t provide accessory parts, such as this charging port cover, after 2 years, and 4 years/80,000 km for a “new car warranty”
so if you argued that products under warranty fail after their warranty expires, you would’ve been correct

Porsche Taycan is just LOVELY.

Itβs indeed one of the top selling Porsche and a lovely design.

Just adding another unnecessary failure point.

that song does not remind me of good things…
-
And when the battery is too low to run the motors to open the charge port or the touch sensor fails? I guess that’s why we’ve had mechanical filler doors going back to fuel-based cars… unnecessary overengineering!

I don’t like when tactile control is taken away from the user and replaced with thing physically invisible.

Your content is refreshingly authentic, keeps me coming back for more!
