Unless I’m driving a nevera just give me the smaller wheels, preferably smaller than the bigger kerbs. Doesn’t matter how good you think your spatial awareness is, those kerbs are magnetic to big wheels.

For your information I am still on my original front tyres @ 36,000 miles on my i3s REx. Don’t understand why because I replaced all four on my previous standard i3 which I sold @ 17,000 miles. Perhaps being rear wheel drive and relying on brake regeneration means the front are not put under much of a load. Rears though only seem to last around 15,000 – and that is assuming you don’t pick up punctures which i3 seems to be particularly susceptible to.

Yes, Motability do go through the dealer for sale. They don’t get them back at the end of lease though as Motability auction them off. Effectively Motability buy the car and lease to the customer.

The dealer will usually be given first dibs on the car they supplied. If they don’t want them they are sent to auction.

@@ElectrifyingcomWouldn’t touch an ex mobility car. Most of these are totally wrecked by the first owner who usually very poor and inconsiderate drivers

Lots of questions! I really want an electric car, however, Octopus Energy are really dragging their feet over installing a smart meter – I’ve been waiting for at leat 3 years and despite their promise to let me know if there’s someone in my area, they installed one for my neighbour 2 years ago, and didn’t let me know. Is it worth my while to get a car if I have to charge it on their standard tariff? Currently I spend £50 a month on petrol for my Fiat Panda (+£55 insurance and about the same for service & MOT). My pension is just over the limit to get the winter fuel allowance, so I don’t have much to spare. I recently received a heat pump and PV panels via the Welsh government ECO4 scheme, which are great, but I’m not getting the full benefit of them for the above mentioned reasons. Oh yes – no one talks about insurance for electric cars. If I make savings on fuel, will that be swallowed up by increased insurance?

We got our Ioniq 5 on Motability and picked it up via the dealer in Portsmouth. Not much of a handover, they just set up the Blue link app with the car and that was it 🤔. Good job I’d watched loads of videos about the Ioniq 5 prior to collection

I reckon that the Smart #5 will have a lion animal emoji thing. I think it’s to create the idea that you could take the car into the African wilderness or maybe a trip around Longleat. 😁

A lion is also a larger more robust feline than a cheetah so that would definitely make sense.

    Fun as usual.

The dealer question really matters as I look around to buy a new car. If I want a Smart I have to go to the North of Birmingham some fifty miles away, though I may be able to get it serviced in Wolverhampton a mere forty miles way. If I want an Alfa Romeo I have to go to Nuneaton more than fifty miles away. A Mini can be had in Worcester some fifteen mile away. As yet I do not know whether any of these dealers have something for me to test drive or whether they will let me drive it.

I really do want some kind of pre sales, post sales, and servicing support a bit closer to home.

The EV3 grades have pros and cons. A heat pump is only available on the top of the range model and you can’t get top spec with the 17″ wheels so if you want extra kit, you pay dearly in range. Grrr…

Current Kona’s rear end is terrible, but at least somewhat better than the old one. That looked like they’d stacked two entirely different cars on top of each other.

Mobility cars ; I recommend everyone to stay clear of them as a alternative to nearly new cars, especially as the first owners usually neglected them so badly. I work in the trade and the mobility cars coming in are in a terrible state

I’m leaning towards the Kia EV3 Air 81kW. It seems to have everything I need in terms of features, range, and charging speed. Plus, it looks pretty great.
I’m hoping the reviews are positive.

Mike & Tom… My guess for the animal in the #5 would be a ‘Lion’, king of the off road jungle, maybe 🙂
