My experience with Jaguar has been truly awful. My ipace has been in the dealership since March waiting for battery repairs which I am now told won’t happen, absolutely pitiful customer service from Jaguar North America and at the same time we are being asked to take the rebranding and repositioning seriously. As a customer I feel totally abandoned…..but I suspect that is exactly jaGUar’s strategy as it tries to target a superelite customer base. Buyers beware.

What concerns me is when are electricity prices going to fall? How long do we put up with ever-increasing prices? The increasing VTG MUST be reducing costs!?

Electricity prices have been ‘attached’ to the price of gas by the large consortiums who run their privately owned National Grid . Prices for electricity are less than 7ppkW so far as I can make out, feed in tariffs about 14ppkWh if you are lucky to feed in with someone like Octopus.
So why the massive hike when you buy the stuff ‘retail’ ? it can only be about that magical word Profit.
Once enough ordinary people and businesses get their own solar and battery storage then the price of power will have to fall as no-one will be using the stuff coming from the Grid, probably the other way around with everyone feeding into their local grid making Oil power stations a bit obsolete.
The thing that really gets me is why do we have to pay a standing charge to the privately owned National Grid, where’s the competition to this business, why are they being allowed by government to run a thiefdom.

Official power consumption figures for cars have always varied wildly from real world driving. It’s a little like diesel gate where some manufacturers seem to game the system to make their cars hit a high WLTP figure and some others give the owner a more realistic impression. I currently don’t have an EV but am watching Ionic 6 used prices with interest, absolutely love it’s looks.

Why didn’t Hyundai just merge the Santa Fe and Ioniq 9, the Santa Fe design is much cleaner to my mind

Still super pleased with the Tesla Model 3 you recommended. Done my first few Supercharger stops and all were less than 12 minutes before continuing. The colder weather has had little effect as still managing around 4 miles per kWH. To me efficiency is the part many EV makers seem to miss. Cars with 2 to 3 miles per kWh as standard, should not be sold.

Although I look forward to Tuesdays launch of the Puma EV, unless it’s cheaper than the current ICE Puma which is already overpriced I think it might be a flop.
ICE Puma starts at £26,350, more than the projected price of quite a few small EV’s now. My guess would be nearer £30k starting which I think would be a hard sell.

Yes I went from diesel Qashqai to Megane Etech. Wasn’t a big jump in insurance cost. About 30%, but the Nissan was very cheap for such a big car.

Jaguar comments are what a marketing guru would really hope for. All publicity is good publicity.
My Jaguar i pace has been impeccable for 3.5 years and owners should celebrate a design that was class leading and even now still looks fresh. PeterC

Those people who say the branding ad didn’t show the car are bizarre. It wasn’t meant to show the car because that’s being launched today.

When people use the 40% of the UK can’t charge at home it’s missing an important part of the statistic. The car ownership of people without off street parking is a lower percentage than for those with off street parking.

Problem with the VW group is that the dealerships do not haggle all the prices are set by the central VW organisation / factory prices. Might be why people walk away? Oh and thanks for the shout out for last weeks comment – drum roll….

Really liked the Skoda Enyaq (a channel favourite) and was always my target model however as I am leasing through work (salary sacrifice) I went for the VW ID7 Tourer. More toys, better spec as standard and the deal was they would throw in a smart charger (Ohme Pro) which as a new EV driver was a worhtwhile saving as the Enyaq price was not significantly lower than the ID7.

Mrs F will get a shock when the whale arrives on the drive but lead time is 12 – 16 weeks so will be a spring delivery ! One more winter of eco-diesel it is for me.

Thanks for the breakdown! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What’s the best way to send them to Binance?

Hi Guys, Well said some sense and broad minded comments at last. The car will be fantastic but that will still not be enough for those who can do nothing that spread negativity. Will be in touch as had a session with Sky news today presumably over my comment and took them out in XJ-SC for balance against my I Pace and why I can love both but for different reasons.

Had to go look at this new Jaguar commercial. (shrug whatever) Flashback to 2003 when a young, new marketing employee (Carl) at Jaguar suggest a new, vibrant ad campaign to shake things up and catch the eyes of a younger, more diverse demographic. Carl was shown the door. Flash forward 20 years. “Hey, Carl. How you been doing?”

The Leaf is so cheap I couldn’t resist. It will still be an upgrade from my 22Kwh Zoe. £203 a month with one month up front and 10k miles a year over 3 years 😮

At some point, the new Jag will be ready to test drive. At that point, it will be deserving of attention. I it’s a good car. Probably a long wait to find out what it’s like to live with.

As a Mechanical Engineering Graduate, that’s also a gay man that loves cars since childhood, the Jaguar thing was very… interesting?
I laughed a lot at fragile masculinity comments all over the internet.
The homofobic and transfobic hate was not funny at all, and your solidarity is very appreciated, not granted in the car media.
I’m happy that I’ve chosen to follow your content.
Keep up the good work! ❤
