Does the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Do It All? | Review

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 adds retro flair, modern infotainment, and a pragmatic style to produce a quite complete bundle. That's good due to the fact that the crossover classification continues to be on the rise and the competition is heating up! For 2024 there aren't a lot of changes to this formula but with a that won various awards upon it's release and sees the closest cross-shopping come kind it's Kia cousin Hyundai can be forgiven for playing it a little safe; in the meantime. If you're purchasing the best electrical crossover on the market you need to think about the Ioniq 5.

It’s a top contender I think. How does it compare to the EV6 for you? -Travis

@@EVBuyersGuide the ioniq is more practical imo and the ev6 has that climate screen that also functions as infotainment shortcuts

I liked the I5 better. but since it only recently started being sold in my area, I ended up going EV6 as there was a ton of stale dealer stock with great deals. I do appreciate the extra highway range of the EV6 as tested by you guys, but I think I’d take the bit boxier cargo area as a tradeoff.

It’s hard to say no to a good deal and between the two there isn’t a world of difference. -Travis

For some, it’ll put the Ioniq 5 back on their shopping list. Some people have very strong feelings about that wiper. -Travis

I like the shape so much more than the Kia. A real stretch to call a car a hatchback when it is the same size as the Subaru Forester I traded for my much loved GTI.

I got rid of my Model 3 and bought a 2024 Ioniq 5 Limited AWD a few months ago. LOVE it! MUCH happier with it! I really appreciate that its HDA-II assists me, rather than expecting me to assist Autopilot.

I can’t look at the front of this car without thinking it has a cleft lip.

The shape is a giant Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon to me and I love it!

I really like the direction the Koreans are going with their EVs, but Kia needs to get the EV 7/8 and Hyundai versions out ASAP. The EV6 and Ioniq 5 are too low and don’t have enough cargo capacity at only 59.3 cu ft with the seats down. The EV9 is too big, ugly (styled like a refrigerator) and over-priced. The high MSRP means even with tax incentives the massive depreciation, higher registration and insurance, and more frequent tire replacement will likely negate any fuel savings vs a Telluride.
