We have actually got our hands on among the all-time great Lamborghinis – the Murciélago LP640. And it's lining up versus … a Volvo EX90?!

You might think this race is completely pointless, pitting a 7-seat family SUV against a classic supercar. However these cars are really more carefully matched than you might think! Let's take a more detailed look at the statistics …

Starting with the Lambo, it's powered by a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12, which produces 640hp and 660Nm of torque. This power is sent out to all four wheels through a 6-speed transmission, and it ideas the scales at 1,765 kg. Since today, it's worth about ₤ 500,000, and it was released way back in 2007.

Then we come to the Volvo EX90. It's an all-electric, family-friendly SUV, and it's loading 2 electric motors which integrate to produce 680hp and 870Nm. Offered it has two motors, it includes all-wheel drive, however it's mighty heavy, weighing in at 2,725 kg! It's also a whole lot less expensive than the Lambo, costing ₤ 98,160.

So how will this one play out? The Lambo weighs a tonne less than the Volvo, but will the additional power from the electrical motors prove definitive? There's only one way to discover for sure … LET'S RACE!

    I drive an XC60 T8 2025, the first time I floored it it scared the life out of me. Something that weighs 2.2 tonnes should not be that fast, and yet, it humbles lots of cars on the road.

      But that’s not how “time” works. a modern Lambo against a modern T8… Of course. The Lambo destroys the Volvo just like the Murc’ destroyed the 2006 S60.

      1973 Ferrari Daytona 365 against a Vauxhall Carlton with the Lotus straight 6 from 20 years later? The Vauxhall barge destroys it and it’s not the only family car that was faster (starting with the Impreza). And only half the cylinders!

      This is ignoring everything other than straight line speed, which requires little driver skill. One bend, and today’s 3-ton barges are in the mirror.

      I guess the 2020s ain’t all that after all

      10y you wouldn’t understand it yet but adult you still admires the murcielago more than that volvo, cars are so much more than their straight line performance. What car would you want to drive on that perfect mountain road or on the track. It isn’t about being the fastest, it’s about the emotions driving it gives you. Also in that lambo, the experience will feel faster even when it isn’t. Noise, vibrations, gear changes,… it’s all part of how you experience the speed. 0-60 in a fast caterham feels way faster than going 0-60 in a tesla. Beyond a certain point, more acceleration is meaningless

      @THELOCALBOY123 You’re still too young but I get it. When you combine massive torque at zero rpm’s, the lowest center of gravity available, 50/50 balance, and regen to pull you back down, its a game changer. Makes for an incredible autcrossing car.

      Yeah, the delay in the Single Clutch gearbox sounds like someone manually shifting. Nutty that the Aventador stuck with a similar setup that made city driving atrocious.

      He lifts the foot of the throttle every shift,with launch control and corsa mode on gearbox flat foot shifting it will be faster then this volvo

      He’s way scared of damaging it, they have launch control and it’s being short shifted in earlier gears,

      but hey if it even matters everyone has a 1000 hp tesla now days, not just volvos, but atleast a lot of lambos are rocking tt systems way beyond that
