VW ID Tiguan: Has Volkswagen Finally Got Its Mojo Back?

Volkswagen has an issue: its electrical automobiles have not exactly end up being the things of Volkswagen legend.But the brand-new ID Tiguan might be ready to change that.

This is the electric successor to the ID.4, and VW has given it a lot more traditional Volkswagen look– sharper, cleaner and more positive, while still packing a lot of brand-new innovation beneath.

There's up to 373 miles of range, an option of 58kWh LFP and 77kWh NMC batteries, up to 165kW fast charging and, for the very first time on an ID design, an R-Line version.

However the greatest modifications are within. The ID Tiguan gets a completely upgraded cabin, correct physical controls, 4 standard window switches, lit up smart device charging, massage seats with environment control, a new guiding wheel and a clever brand-new centre console. There are even retro touches inspired by the Golf Mk4 and original Tiguan.

It stays a useful household SUV, too, with 534 litres of boot area, more than 1,500 litres with the rear seats folded and– lastly– a 32-litre frunk.

So has Volkswagen lastly put some proper VW character back into its electric automobiles?

And could the ID Tiguan be the electric SUV that finally makes us forget the ID.4?

Let us know what you think– and inform us which other traditional Volkswagen models you 'd like to see become electrical.

    I like it! I think they have made it sooo much better than the I.D4 was, I know it’s early days yet, but I think this might be the comeback of VW with their new I.D models.

      makes you wonder was the sabotage intentional?

      @JjaysYoutube

      @NyashaMit does that, think they were desperate to get the money back they had lost after diesel gate 🤦

      @NyashaMno. The change is they have a new boss and he’s a fan of doing the basic stuff right. Handles & buttons are actually just handles & buttons. No need for touch sensitive, pop out stuff.

    Looks like an evolution of the old Tiguan with the R-Line package. So VW going back to what worked in the past

      Customers wanted that – VW is listening clearly

    A handsome looking car. Took VW far too long to listen to what Customers and reviewers were saying about the interior. The retro flourishes in the screens are , well, brilliant.

      Agreed. Wish MB would add that too

    Automakers start to understand that electric cars…are normal cars.. we dont need any “strage” style, features, we just want a car, that is electric..

    1. @morepower1989 Avatar
      @morepower1989

      Agreed but the problem with exterior design is still there. Cx is super important for motorway driving hence weirdly looking front grills etc.

    2. @jdillon8360 Avatar
      @jdillon8360

      especially on the inside. The “screens” inside should be small, and properly integrated into the dash and centre console. Too many cars these days look like someone removed all the physical buttons and just stuck a big flat screen TV in the middle of the dashboard.

    3. @explosheep Avatar
      @explosheep

      No, they are not normal cars. They don’t have to pay 200p per liter of diesel

    4. @n.b.1267 Avatar
      @n.b.1267

      well, the idea was that electric cars could be much freer in design technically. so it would be possible to test completely new forms without the limitations of having to store a combustion engine and a classic transmission. but people want cars to look like they always did.

    5. @n.b.1267 Avatar
      @n.b.1267

      @jdillon8360that’s the way it is today, no matter whether it’s a combustion engine or an electric one. You have so many options and features on new cars -you cannot possibly fit enough buttons in there.

    Am very satisfied ID.4 owner and was really looking forward to this. Unfortunately, in the most important areas for use as car, which are battery size and charging, there’s no change. Love the looks, but it ain’t enough to justify repurchase I’m affraid.

      Yes there are changes, faster and longer range – not a real leap though

    If only VW had adopted this strategy right from the beginning of their EV transition, they would have been the leader of the pack made and saved a fortune.

    Thank god someone is listening to the consumer. Physical climate controls, physical steering wheel buttons, physical mirror controls. These make such a difference day to day. Also, anything north of 150kw charging is fast enough, not class leading but enough.
