Higher tech doesn’t mean better..
-
Just more gimmics that can go wrong.
If it works don’t change it -
its just different.
-
It does mean higher tech tho đ¤ˇââď¸
-
â@gimigimi1299 if you don’t change it you won’t make money so they are ruining vehicles for profit.
-
Just look at F1
-
-
They’ll bury the steering in some menu in the screen next
-
Gimmicks. It’s the only way they can sell cars nowadays. People desperately need to touch screens and be able to let them watch Netflix in the car. đđ
-
Tesla proved there’s a massive market demand for that philosophy, so why wouldn’t other automakers adapt? As for screens and Netflix, they’re for passengers and kids to stay entertained on long trips, not the driver who’s focused on the road.

Newer ones are safer and easier to drive, but they don’t give you the driving experience, fun, or practicality that the older ones had. New ones are just giant smartphones on wheels. Not to mention the designs.
-
Safer? They fold up like paper in wrecks
-
@seanwebb4291 That is exactly what safety is. I don’t think you understand why cars crumple. If your car was solid, one minor crash and you’d have a broken spike, cracked ribs and a brain injury
-
@seanwebb4291 and they are supposed to do that… do you want the car to survive or you?
-
By that logic, you should probably throw away your smartphone and switch back to a Nokia 3310. Think of the pure, tactile experience and zero distractions. Itâll be much better for you!
-
@kinisiayoube4449 youre not driving a phone, but you are driving a car. its absolutely nuts how many things they want to make electronic instead of mechanical, even brakes.
-
-
Those types of steering wheels suck if you’re used to one handed 12 o’clock driving.
-
they just suck no matter what style you use
-
â@whytherush222ppl won’t drive more savely with this crap, it’s quite the opposite.
-
@0815tralala its not for savely its so you feel race car
-
Buy a rotator that you can attach that people with only one arm use; it will look really stupid, but you one hand it again.
-
@justsmarter5691 buy rotator to drive my 50k car? daft
-
-
I miss when cars were actually analog!
-
You forgot to open 3 layer menus to disable all the safety features.
-
Acting like safety features are a bad thing?
-
@florian6808 They are when theyre poorly designed and falsely react to nothing, which is more dangerous, cause now you have a car beeping at you, you have no idea why, and theres NOTHING WRONG.
-
@florian6808it should be a choice to turn them on or off. But legislation stipulates they reset after each restart. You canât even update your own cars software to change that as it is illegal to do so. And letâs be fair, the first thing a high percentage of people do is turn them off each time. Itâs your car, you have a valid driving license, you know the rules and you learned to drive without those features. And being that it is your car, paid by yourself and the car meets law, you should be in control of how you want to drive it without it being forced on you as long as you adhere to the road laws. These features are not law, they are just annoying.
-
â@TachyonOS I bet it saved more lives though. Obviously poor design is always negative, but overall safety systems are a step in the right direction. And they are only going to get better.
-
No. You are wrong. I had an mg in my vacation which braked three times a lot stronger because system thought it had to. shocked me and and was dangerous.
And this annoying warning beep every time you just drive 3kmh faster than a silly sign tells it is just braindead and not helpfull at all. Everyone will turn it off after every restart so it is just time consuming and raising blood pressure.
And a self steering wheel where you have to let your hands on is the biggest bullshit of all. But you pay for all thos tech nonsense.
A lot of dangerous and useless features right now in modern cars.
-
-
That was definitely a valid crashout
-
a few years ago screens were actually integrated into the dash. Now it just looks like tablets mounted on to empty dashes
-
Pretty soon they’re gonna eliminate the steering wheel too and all newer vehicles will be autonomous
-
It better be that way

Old is gold

“Innovation”
-
âWhy is this a screen?!?â The most valid question in 2026
-
For everyone asking, why is this a screen? If you have a wagon or hatchback, if you fill the trunk up too high you can’t see out the rear. Flipping it up lets you see behind the car at any time by using a camera on the outside.
-
Finally someone that doesnt just comment to hate on actual innovation, but instead knows its purpose and respects it. Rare these days

I have to laugh! I own a brand new IS350 . The interior has been updated, but prior to that one of the biggest complaints about the IS 350 is that the interior was outdated. Now here we are at a video complaining about how everything is too techie. I agree. My eye has 350 has real door handles, a real shift, lever, and real buttons/levers for the climate control. And it has no turbo charger and no start stop.

Little red riding hood: “What nice features you have!”
Car manufacturers: “All the better to charge you for!” -
The root of all the criticism surrounding modern car tech is simply a natural fear of change. History repeats itself: cars have evolved over a century, and at every stage, people preferred the ‘old way.’ Mark my words, the 2040 generation will fondly remember 2026 cars using the exact same logic. Innovation is constant across all industries, and the automotive world is no exception.
-
Well said, its always the conservatives just hating for it being new and just ignoring any actual benefits it has.
-
-
âHigh tech doesnât mean innovationâ brother youâre just not used to the change of this new innovation. It will be so much better and easier to have then older tech. Clearly the back mirrors we used to have isnât the best chz sometimes the back window mostly was foggy or had ice and wasnât clear enough to see. So this innovation is much better. You just seen this and youâre like âoh yeah itâs badâ without actually sitting there and thinking about whatâs bad.
-
I know right? All these conservatives in the comments. Just hating because its new and in the end the old stuff will be weird. Just like the smartphone innovation, all over again, they never learnđ

Interesting to see how you now complain about this but you are just a part of the problem by just speaking positively (just like Autotrader does) when a new model comes up with this “features”
