      Just get a Kia e-Niro. Many of the earlier ones will still have warranty left, and they are more efficient and have much better interiors and software. Only thing the VW beats it on is looks. I looked at both and so happy I went with the Kia. It’s also the EV with the least amount of battery degradation after 100k km/62k miles

      @MigV40 VW beats the Kia on looks, refinement, ride, range, handling, practicality, technology etc. the id3 is a truly brilliant car.

      @MigV40 Which year Niro did you go for ? Facelift or pre-facelift . I was also looking at these alongside the Kona , megane e tech , born , ID3 and MG4.

      @shieldaigbencher I haven’t driven an ID3, but it certainly doesn’t beat the Kia on range, practicality, interior quality, and tech. Early ID3s had horrible tech, and the haptic buttons drove people insane. It also had a terrible, cheap interior. The Niro has a much bigger boot and much more room in the back. It also has lots of buttons, which most people appreciate. Regarding range, the e-Niro is one of the most efficient cars out there, and mine can easily do over 5miles/kwh in summer and get a range of over 330 miles, and WLTP claims 282… The Kia also has excellent standard equipment and very simple trim levels. 2, 3, 4, and 4+. It also has some nice features the VW doesn’t have, like ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. The Niro is very comfortable and handles perfectly fine.

      @dtbflamemini9322 I have a 2021 e-Niro 4+, so it is the top-spec first-gen model. It now has 77k miles on it and according to the battery SOH report Kia gave me, it still has 99.7% State of Health! The Kona and Soul electric are both excellent, as they share many parts with the Niro, but those are a bit smaller, although they do look more interesting. The Born and Renault are both great, but the Niro beats them in battery longevity and efficiency. I wouldn’t go near the MG. I’ve been in lots of them as taxis, and they feel so cheap and flimsy inside and the seats aren’t great, and the suspension is always knocking.

    This was definitely the best year with Electrifying going online 💪💪😁😁
    But on the other hand would still not go for VW iD3 it’s just so bad from the daily usability prospect with laggy tech 😢😢😢.
    Cupra Born is still the choice

    I’ve had an id3 Pro for 18 months now. It flew through the NCT (called MOT in UK). There were some sensor issues but the dealer replaced them under warranty. The car cost me €22K. I use the wall charger software to charge it at preferred times because the car and app’s software is temperamental. The car tends to go into deep sleep if left to charge overnight, the wall charger takes care of that. Overall though, good solid car and good range, 360 km on a full charge.

      Yes, but those in the video are correct for a used buyer unless looking at a 2025 Pure.

    Your real world ranges are a bit optimistic for motorway driving at 70mph.
    The original screen on updated software is now fine. We have two cars (ID3 & 4) on software 3.8 (the latest available for cars up to autumn 24, not 23) and they cause no issues. Our ID3 (Family Pro Performance) we’ve had nearly 5 years and will keep it a few more, it has been great.

    Another thing… Was everything in the user interface backlit for use during night-time in the earliest versions of this (and also the ID.4&ID.5)? Thinking for example about the haptic controls for the climate…

      Not in the early versions. But honestly? You can do most on the screen or with voice commands.

    I believe there can be a fault on some with the switches on the charging flap. Check that works if you are buying one

    Got a used one in January. Quite happy – but only with VW approved used warranty. There are a number of common issues that appear after a few years. Family trim and above is great. There’s an amazing video by Martin Karel that really helped.

    Be warned 2021 and may be earlier, the biggest issue is the charging flap refuses to open. The actuator jams or locks and the flap does not release. It a fault. It’s expensive to replace. The is the SOS battery is expensive to replace. To many bugs keep appearing, it’s good to get extended warranty.

    Huge fan of our 2021 Pro S. Great value in part I’m sure due to the poor reviews on the infotainment/buttons; all of which I got used to very quickly and are a non issue for me. Can operate all of the ‘world-endingly-terrible’ steering wheel controls without looking..

    Drive feels very high quality, and super quiet inside.

    Interior material fanciness (or lack thereof) is the main trade off for the price.

    My first EV was a 1ST Edition, I really liked driving it even it was bland on the inside. The matrix LED headlights are fantastic!
