Bro steer-by-wire has been a things since at least the 80’s. Yes, it has been relatively uncommon and was only introduced into production cars fairly recently… back in 2013. OVER A DECADE AGO. I don’t understand why casual car people are so enthralled by it now, of all times?

Remember JAS39 Gripen fighter jet crash? Steer by wire was to blame. Airplane systems undergo FAR MORE rigorous verification than cars. The safest plane on earth, AirForceOne, does it have electronics in critical systems? Not so much… enough said

Nissan already did the same some 10 years ago with the JDM Skyline which was also sold in other parts of the world as Infiniti Q50. Nothing new, drove it for several months. Pretty much reliable.
