The ID. Cross is finally naked… Nicola takes a look

Find out more:

Nicola's fourth date with the Volkswagen ID. Cross is finally here– and this time, the disguise is off. After fulfilling the principle, driving it, and seeing a camouflaged prototype, Nicola gets up close with the finished all-electric SUV that Volkswagen hopes will end up being an even bigger seller than the Polo.
Is the ID. Cross a sensible long-term match? We take a look at its design, cabin, boot area, batteries, range, charging and the all-important rate– plus how it compares to the Ford Puma Gen-E and MINI Aceman.
With as much as 271 miles of claimed range, a 475-litre boot plus a frunk, V2L capability and a beginning price from around ₤ 24,500, could this be the small electrical SUV to wait for?

Head or heart decision that one.
The ID Cross looks better IMO, and has more fun tech, and a bit more space.
The EV2 will likely have better battery tech and range, as Kia have been doing EVs longer.

I think I’d choose the ID Cross though, as it’s a very decent all rounder.

You can check and the new Renault 4 ev. For me the open-top version of the Renault is the winner in this small suv-like segment

Maybe the first vw suv I would purchase but the ID7 tourer has my heart. You can’t beat a wagon!

It’s more a wagon suv than a typical wagon, it’s huge

Nicola, this made me laugh out loud. Definitely want to see the unedited version. The car is not too shabby either.

All hail Nicola for making car reviews fun. She needs an award. Absolutely love watching her videos. I do see hints of Dacia in the styling.

Great review, very nice practical car, but I reckon the range is very overoptimistic. To get 271 miles the efficiency has be over 5 miles/kWh, very few cars are capable of that.

LOVE the design, the styling, and the space!
Kind of a shame the battery technology is a bit outdated! :/
Would at least expect 150kW charging infrastructure here, but the pricing is giving what it gives, I guess…
