Mercedes’ new S-Class just DESTROYED BMW

Explore brand-new and secondhand cars and truck handle Carwow:

This is the brand-new Mercedes S-Class!

Rather than being an all-new automobile, this is more of a mid-life facelift. However, it's no common facelift, with around 50% of the cars and truck having been changed, making it the most substantial mid-life update in Mercedes history!

The concern is, does this new S-Class have what it takes to take on the Audi A8 & BMW 7 Series? Let's take a closer look …

Starting with the exterior, there are numerous big updates, most especially at the front, where there's a whole new look. The DRLs have actually been upgraded to consist of the 3-pointed star lights, and there's an all-new grille. Nevertheless, while it might be brand new, it looks quite plastic and inexpensive – particularly when blacked out in the AMG Line trim. The side profile stays mostly the very same, and at the back, there are updated (and improved) taillights and a brand-new bumper design.

However, it's on the inside where the most notable changes can be discovered, with the brand-new breathtaking Superscreen now sweeping across the whole dash. It encompasses the infotainment screen and a separate screen for the passenger, and it includes Mercedes brand-new infotainment system – a significant enhancement over the previous model! There's also a brand-new steering wheel (with some physical buttons), and naturally, the cabin is covered in soft-touch, high-quality materials.

In the rear, the seats are as comfortable as ever, especially in the two-seat edition that we have here. There's a big centre console with lots of storage, brand-new passenger screens, and the seats totally recline just as they utilized to.

The new Mercedes S-Class will cost from ₤ 103,000 for the AMG Line Premium cut we have here. However, depending on the engines and trims you pick, this might rise to around ₤ 140,000!

So is it the essential luxury limo, or are you much better off choosing an Audi or BMW? Stick with Mat to see for yourself!

Hear me out. Let’s replace the windscreen with a live-feed screen. Make it subscription based, if the user doesn’t pay, the screen cuts out and starts playing ‘Jesus, Take the Wheel’.

@mnupolThat was at least 2 decades ago and that wasn’t the S-Class. S-Class has for many years now been the car you get driven around in not the one you drive, a cheap(er) mans Rolls Royce. Even the 7 Series has never really been known for its driving dynamics, maybe a smidge better than a S-Class but again not something you’d take out for a Sunday drive on B roads.

50% of the car is a copy of Chinese cars. But the execution is garbage. They even copied Huawei’s feature with phone remotes, or whoever in China came up with that idea. True, Huawei’s phone remotes ran at 240 Hz; in the Mercedes, to avoid distracting passengers and allow them to relax, they set it to 15 fps.
