But which is best?
But which is best?

The glovebox is an inconvenience at best. It fucking sucks as a “feature”.
It’s not supposed to be a feature in that aspect. It’s a feature because you can password protect it in the screen so that no one can access it. I guess they could have just put a key lock on it but hey.
@Nimayour saying after a thief breaks into the car they’re going to then struggle to pry that glove box open?
@Stephen Comerford it’s not about being unbreakable it’s about making it difficult. Everything is breakable given enough time, but how long do you think an average car break in takes? They’re mostly under 30 seconds if that. If it’s difficult to break in then the thief is likely to give up and choose a different compartment which is easier to access
Things that don’t need to be electronic;
– Screen adjustment
– Glovebox opener
But how they are going to make money if it’s a manual when it brakes?
Agreed. Manual glovebox is better because it works when the powers out and you need the manual.
@roguedogxHowever, having it in the screen ensures it stays locked.
Glovebox needs to be automated because there is the USB stick in it with the sentry mode videos and thiefs could just remove it
@Mueslii There’s still a mechanism which can be forced manually in order to open it. You really think making it automated via the screen is going to put a thief off?
I don’t know why a car needs a automated glovebox
Password secure glovebox is a good feature tbh
it’s a joke
It’s not like every glovebox does just drop down when it is opened. This one just has a button on a screen instead of a latch. It’s not complicated and it’s old tech that’s been around for decades.
@Nimayeah use a purse
because it doesnt have a button
your glovebox electric fails, you go to mechanic and pay 2k$ to fix its electrics. <3 feature
I think the real question is which one is less unnecessary? The screen adjustment that doesn’t need to exist but it could also be manual or the electronic glovebox release that will inevitatbly leave you unable to open the glovebox at some point
My parents have a car (Audi A6) from early 2011 which also has an electrical glove box opener, and it still works.
But I think that the glove box opener in an Tesla won’t last that long
You missed another major feature: the steering wheel
How to make a car unnecessarily expensive…..
Its cheap af compared to similar other cars so..
Not really. It is below 100k in Germany, fully equipped, max range and 700hp. You are never getting that kinda deal with any other brand… where you have to open the glovebox manually
Its cheaper / good price compared to its competitors
That glovebox is so unnecessary.
Everything is getting electric now
Wow i love convenient this is its totally not anoying, and not just easier to just to pull a handle
Make sure you get that full warranty lol..
I love navigating through an onscreen menu do a simple task.
It’s only two clicks. How long did it take you to open YouTube?
@jerkyz since YouTube is on my phone that already means i’m using a touch screen to navigate any task. How many clicks does it take for you to tie your shoes or flush the toilet?
Online?
@Al oops meant “onscreen” Who knows maybe it’s online too? Elon must grant me access to my gloves.
Meanwhile Porsche is going back to making everything button controllable
Meanwhile Porsche would be selling Plaids drive train for millions if they got their hand on such a tech…
@Luka Bošnjak tech like the touchscreen shifter?
@Alexander Pardon me, I meant drive train
@Luka Bošnjak thought experiment, why would Porsche be able to get more value out of Tesla’s drive train than Tesla currently is, and what might that reflect on other parts of the cars build and its brand?
That’s incredible. My parent’s Skoda does exactly the same. Except their centre screen doesn’t turn, because it’s basically pointless, and their glovebox opens with a latch on the glovebox because that’s much more convenient.
Now i need a YouTube tutorial in how to open glovebox. Thanks elon
Have these features in my Model X. Screen adjustment is great for using the browser or watching shows. It’s good for when I am waiting for clients or in between meetings. Glovebox opener is also password protected which is great to put important documents or anything you don’t want stolen if someone tries to break a window or something. I used to have a lockable glovebox with a key and I feel this is a much better option haha
I LOVE the rotating screen in my Model S. I keep it facing me. It’s a shame it couldn’t be retrofitted to the 21 Model S. If you remember the original Model S had a screen pointed in the direction of the driver.
Tesla should add the movable screen feature to the model 3.
Whether the automated glovebox is more secure or not it doesn’t matter, the thief can still easily ransack a Tesla through their awful panel gaps
For people saying that the automated glovebox is better, I agree that having an electronic lock and password is better, but it doesn’t need to be unlocked by the bloody screen.
