NEW SQ9 is the BIGGEST Audi EVER!

Is the brand-new Audi Q9 more glamorous than an A8?!

Mat's flown over to Utah to get his hands on the Audi SQ9!

It's the very first generation of the Audi Q9 & SQ9, and it sits right at the top of the Audi variety. What's more, it's likewise the biggest Audi ever produced!

So with that in mind, should you pick it over class-leading 7-seaters like the BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS? Let's take a closer look, starting with the design …

From the outdoors, there's no rejecting the all-new Q9 is an incredibly big & enforcing monster. Up front, there are similarities between the entry-level Q9 and this SQ9, although the latter has a more aggressive seek to it, thanks to a different bumper and grille design. The big grille is flanked on either side by Audi's class-leading DRLs, and the main headlights sit in a separate system on the front end. Around the side, the SQ9 is provided more definition thanks to chrome surrounds on the windows, chrome roof rails and creases along the doors. At the back, Audi has fitted the SQ9 with 100% real quad tailpipes, along with wraparound OLED taillights!

On the inside, the SQ9 looks largely similar to all other recent Audis – but that's no bad thing! The dashboard comes definitely covered in screens, with the wraparound digital dial and infotainment screen, paired with a traveler screen. There are little to no physical buttons, so whatever is controlled through the screen. The materials are nice throughout the entire cabin, and the seats are large and comfy.

In the back, the SQ9 is readily available in a 6- or 7-seat setup. The automobile we have here has the 6 seats, and the captain's chairs are large, comfortable, and include a high amount of motion. Put simply, the SQ9 is spacious for travelers in the back!

The Q9 series is readily available with a choice of either a V6 fuel or diesel, and a plug-in hybrid will likewise be offered. Nevertheless, in the range-topping SQ9 you'll find a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet, and this delivers a big 600hp and 800Nm of torque!

When it comes to cost, the Q9 range starts from ₤ 103,900, rising to around ₤ 130,000 for this SQ9. However does it provide enough to sway you away from BMW or Mercedes? Let us understand which you 'd pick in the comments!

    Audi finally built a car big enough to carry all the screens they’ve removed the buttons for.

    Why is there so much cost cutting with large screens instead of proper metal buttons in a 150k car!

      And why are the bezels so big in 2026

    2. @zMW574e Avatar
      @zMW574e

      Indeed. If Audi did a competitor to the F35 jet fighter then rather than a grab handle for the ejector seat it would have an option under the plane sub menu on a screen.

      Audi never used metal buttons. Those ‘metal buttons’ in say an A8 were plastic

    1. @splattingcpu60 Avatar
      @splattingcpu60

    4. @splattingcpu60 Avatar
      @splattingcpu60

      @emmanueltorrensfor personal preference? Some like it colder some like it warmer

    5. @nluisa Avatar
      @nluisa

      @IReapZz95 The stars are much more than just protecting those inside the car. It’s also about preventing crashes and limit the damage those cause to outsiders. Like which bumper design is more likely to increase injuries if a car hits a person.
      The deduction regarding screens is because those increase distracted driving and likelihood of crashes (just ask Tesla owners). It’s about preventing crashes or running people over only because you had to take your eyes off the road to turn the fans up. It doesn’t sound something to dismiss.

      It’s up to manufacturers to decide whether they are ok with the star deduction or not, but they know most consumers do care about buying something with 5 star NCAP, so I imagine the buttons will be back. I wish it was mandatory, but it’s better than nothing.
