Lambo Huracan Perf v Zeekr 8X: DRAG RACE

We're drag racing the Chinese Zeekr 8X against a Lamborghini Huracan Performante over the 1/4-mile and 1/2 mile. We'll also test the 2 against each other in a brake test from 100mph.

It's time for a China vs Italy drag race!

We have actually got our hands on the Zeekr 8X SUV, and it's taking on the notorious Lamborghini Huracan Performante!

The concern is, can an SUV truly come close to beating a cars over the 1/4-mile?! Let's take a more detailed look at the statistics.

Starting with the Lamborghini, it's powered by a 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 that provides 640hp and 600Nn. This power is sent to all four wheels via a dual-clutch automated transmission, and it weighs in at just 1482kg. Since today, it deserves around ₤ 180,000.

Then we come to the Zeekr. Under the bonnet sits a 2-litre turbocharged fuel engine … However this is utilized to power 3 electric motors! These integrate to produce an extraordinary 1,400 hp and 1,410 Nm, with this power sent to all 4 wheels. It's exceptionally heavy, however, tipping the scales at 2,820 kg! Nevertheless, it's more affordable than the Lambo, costing simply ₤ 54,300!

So the Zeekr is well up on power, however will the substantial weight distinction show definitive? There's only one way to learn for sure … LET'S RACE!

      Might be something to do with the algorithm, or maybe the way previews work whilst people are scrolling. I presume there is a good (views) reason for it. Plus, maybe they don’t have as much time with some vehicles and so things are a bit rushed without enough footage to do the normal build up.

      Whatever the cause, it’s really spoiling the narrative build up and tension by holding a race immediately before there’s even been a proper intro, specs of each car, sound check, and some banter.

      ​@abistarayhan8697That has nothing to do with it since the friction brakes alone on both cars should easily be able to lock up the wheels. It’s potentially the difference in ABS calibration and, most likely, the different tyres that cause this. The actual brakes have practically no part in this.

      I do t think you understand how brake tests work… they stop at the cones, doesn’t matter if one was in front, it only matters that you do the same speed and brake at the cones

      Yes clearly, both the start at 10:00 and the one at 10:29 are jumped by the Zeekr driver, with the second one being jumped by a wide margin! Not calling that makes Carwow look a little desperate to make it look like a real race. Because in a fair race it’s obvious the Zeekr can’t win from the Lambo.

      That Lambo has very wide and very good tires so tires are not a limiting factor for the Lambo. I don’t think that EV has as good tires as the Lambo.

      From a both zeekr and lambo fanboy, tbf, carbon ceramics work best when they’re up to temperature. Cold brakes perform horribly whereas the zeekr has mad strong regen braking + normal brakes that doesn’t need any time to heat up before max braking performance
