Explore new and used car handle Carwow:

It's time for a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 drag race!

All 3 cars and trucks in this drag race have the exact same BMW 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine under their bonnets. Nevertheless, that's where the similarities end! So let's take a closer take a look at each automobile.

To begin with is the Range Rover SV, which produces 635hp and 800Nm, and it weighs in at 2,485 kg. This particular cars and truck is valued at ₤ 139,995.

On the other side of the line-up we have the OCTA. It also sends out 635hp & 800Nm to all 4 wheels, however it's also the heaviest automobile here, tipping the scales at 2,510 kg! What's more, it's also the most expensive here, rolling up with a price tag of ₤ 158,245 kg.

Then finally we have the BMW. It claims to 'only' produce 625hp and 750Nm, however it's also both the lightest and most inexpensive automobile here, coming in at 2,440 kg and ₤ 137,330 respectively.

The question is, is BMW telling the reality with the power output in the X5 M? There's just one method to find out for sure … LET'S RACE!

A little insider info: Different engines.
Land Rover uses the N63B44T3 from the M50i (originally rated at 530 hp) and tunes it to around 630 hp. The X5M LCI, on the other hand, uses the new S68 with mild-hybrid technology and more weight. It got a little bit slower than the pre-LCI X5M with the S63 engine.

The reason the Land Rovers sound better is that the N63 doesn’t use the cross-bank exhaust manifold found on the S63/S68. That gives it a more traditional V8 character. It’s also why the M50i models sound better than the full M versions, in my opinion. It’s not as loud, but the tone is much deeper and more authentic.
