Audi TT RS Iconic Edition review: The end of an era!

The time has come for Mat to say goodbye to the !

He's got his hands on the new Iconic Edition – a limited-edition TT which is the last one will ever produce! The question is, does this last-ever TT RS do its predecessors justice ?!

Well when it concerns the design, there are a couple of noteworthy modifications. Beginning around the back the Iconic Edition comes equipped with a big carbon fiber spoiler which is mounted to the and truck with a swan neck design. The rear diffuser has also become more noticable and has actually had carbon added to it. Around the side, there are prolonged side skirts, and at the front, there's a prolonged splitter, more additional carbon, and matrix LED headlights now come as basic.

So there are a number of significant additions to the outdoors, but it's a different story on the within! The TT RS Iconic Edition features the RS styling pack, although whereas this would typically result in the inclusion of red stitching throughout the vehicle, in this instance it's coloured yellow … Which's it! Otherwise, the interior is simply the same as a regular TT RS.

Regrettably, there aren't any changes to be found under the bonnet either! Lift up the hood and you'll discover the very same 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo as in a routine TT RS, with the power output also remaining the very same, at 400hp and 480Nm. In regards to the chassis, it has actually been lowered slightly and comes geared up with stiffer suspension, however otherwise, the automobile practically matches the routine edition.

So there are a few modifications, but nothing huge. So that asks the concern – is it truly worth the eye-watering ₤ 87,650 price tag?! And bear in mind, that's ₤ 27,000 more than a routine TT RS! You'll require to stick to Mat and see on your own!

coilovers, front control arms and sway bar will fix that problem completely. if you drive your cars with no handling mods, that’s your own fault.

Still my favorite interior of any modern car. Using the vents to integrate physical dials for climate control is just so inspired. A usability and design dream that should be replicated more.

totally agree. Where did we end up from there? Touchy feely screenies all around and just haptic and visual nightmares.

That feature with the vents has been a classic feature of the Camaro for ages, btw. I think a few other cars have used it, and it is awesome, agreed.

TT ICONIC EDITION 2023 for me is far worse than even 1999 Audi TT!

  8. Vagabond Avatar
    Vagabond

When this generation came out I was looking forward to buying one….until Audi got rid of the manual. 😢 What I love about the TT is that it reminds me of the old 911’s with its size and rear seats…unusable but convenient and iconic.

I always loved the TT, it’s such an under rated car, the ‘Hairdresser’ label was unwarranted! I remember the launch of the Original and what an impact it had!

    1. Purwanti Allan Avatar
      Purwanti Allan

The 1999 and 2007 Audi TTs are far more underrated than this TT ICONIC EDITION.

I agree i absolutely love the TT, especially the original with the baseball glove stitching. However it was quite overshadowed by the 350Z when it came out.

Lol my dad had one back in 2001, the 225hp with the dual tailpipes (he always had to point this out) He would hate it when women would come up to him at Gas stations and tell him how cute it was 😂😂😂 It’s amazing how much attention that thing would get. I was only 11 at the time but vividly remember people constantly coming up and chatting to him about it.

    4. S-T-E-V-E Avatar
      S-T-E-V-E

@Gareth Willmott I mean some great cars were branded as ‘Hairdresser Cars’ back then! The MR2, The MX-5, The XR3i, The Puma, the SLK, the Z3!

Small thing, the TT does have lane keeping assist. You activate it with a small button on the end of the indicator stalk.

This one doesn’t appear to have it specced.
Seems to be a rare option on these and the RS3, well especially in our market. Likewise with adaptive cruise.

The 5 cylinder without OPF is just insane. I’m a BMW guy and own a M2. I love the M2 and would never trade it – but the 5 cylinder sound is just crazy. With OPFs not so much 🙁

I think people will pay the extra for the chance it’s going to worth more in the future. We are at a point where everything we love about cars is slowly being taken from us, and nobody can predict how much the last edition of these classics is going to worth when everything is electric. Nostalgia is going to be strong.

The fact is that this offers literally no performance benefit over the standard TTRS. Can’t wait to see all the suckers that spend 27000 extra dollars and justify it by saying ‘its the final edition bro’

    4. xemlover97 Avatar
      xemlover97

And then they’ll be laughing at you when it’s doubled in price in 10 years

    5. داود Avatar
      داود

@xemlover97 There’s cars that will double in value because of their rarity. However, these cars have exceptional qualities of one thing or another. The TTRS just isn’t special enough… has a compromised AWD system, and basically just a body kit for the final edition. The beauty in these cars was there relatively easy accessibility and takes mods and power very well. I mean, the final edition doesn’t even make more power….

I have the standard TT S-Line Quattro and it’s perfect for me. Will beat most things off the line, if you’re into that, a great daily, still gets people wanting to look at it, and the interior – despite being 8 years old now – still looks as good and functional as brand new cars.
