For context, in less than 3 weeks there is a general election in Germany and polls suggest that it will change the political landscape massively after Merkel announced to step down after 16 years. Recent polls show the center-left Social Democrats in the lead, which would form a government with the Green party. Though they would most likely need a third partner for a majority, which will either be the Left party (unlikely) or a libertarian party that has been openly hostile to EVs and renewables in the past, similar to Merkel’s conservative party.
I find it hard to believe that Diess does not know about [https://www.electrive.net/2021/08/18/deutschlandnetz-wir-machen-das-laden-transparenter/](https://www.electrive.net/2021/08/18/deutschlandnetz-wir-machen-das-laden-transparenter/) – the government plan already in motion to build 1000 HPC charging stations all over Germany with very specific location and plug count and plug speed requirements.
