Too EX-pensive? New Volvo EX90 7-seater FIRST DRIVE! | Electrifying

#volvoex 90 # 7seatelectric #electriccars

The Volvo EX90 marks the next action in Volvo's journey towards an all- future, with this model set to change the XC90 as the flagship SUV in its range. Designed with practicality and safety in mind, the EX90 provides a vasts interior that conveniently accommodates 7 travelers. It carries forward Volvo's focus on security features, including innovative chauffeur support systems that supply a solid structure for everyday driving.

The EX90 is readily available in 2 variants: the Twin Motor and the Twin Motor Efficiency, both including all-wheel drive. The Twin Motor design offers a combined output of 402bhp and 770Nm of torque, while the Efficiency variation enhances these figures to 510bhp and 910Nm. The EX90's range is sensible, with Volvo declaring approximately 300 miles on a single charge for the Twin Motor variant, depending on driving conditions and usage. This range is supported by a 107kWh battery, which is compatible with fast crediting help in reducing downtime throughout longer journeys.

Inside, the EX90 keeps a minimalist Scandinavian design, with sustainable materials utilized throughout. The cabin includes a big central touchscreen that works on a Google-based infotainment system, providing straightforward navigation and media choices. While the interface is intuitive for those familiar with smartphone innovation, some motorists may discover the reliance on touch controls less practical when on the relocation.

Volvo continues its dedication to security with the EX90, integrating a range of sensing units, cams, and LiDAR innovation created to detect prospective risks both on the road and off. These systems add to Volvo's aspiration of developing safer vehicles, though they need a period of change for chauffeurs not familiar with such innovations.

However all this loveliness comes at a price. The least expensive model in the variety tops ₤ 96k, with mid- and range-topping models well over the six figure mark. Is that excessive? Are there better alternatives for the money? Join as she takes the EX90 out on the roadway for the first time.

If there was ever reason to stop at 2/3 kids, this £100k monster is it.

Stop at two, we have three and are looking at going back too three row cars (used be be required when we had three child seats as none could fit three in the rear of a two row) mainly to break up the fights between the three sharing the rear bench in our current car.

Your choice must then be based on some other preferences than I have. I prefer safety, luxury, ride quality, sound system above space and price which is the only things the EV9 delivers on.

Nic the intro was perfect as that is who will be buying this car primarily not someone that lives in a medieval city in Europe. I agree with the touchscreen for everything though they need some knobs and buttons and how hard is it to add a handle to open the glovebox. The test will be with a range test and efficiency and of course charging(not claimed but real world). If EuroNCAP goes ahead with their ‘threat’ if you want to call it that could be that a Volvo doesn’t get a 5-Star safety rating that won’t go down well in the Volvo Boardroom in Stockholm. All the music except the classic…Beach Boys of course. 🙂

£100,000 for a volvo, Madness, if I had the money I think I’d get an EV9 over this. Also the screen switching itself off is exactly the reason not all the controls should be in the touchscreen.

I sat in an EV9. It feels mainstream. It’s nice but I actually liked the Telluride interior better. Volvo EX90 is in a different category. More luxurious cabin, more refined, quieter.

Beautiful car, it’s great to see them improve the noise levels on this. When the XC90 launched, I drove one and was disappointed with the road and tire noise, my KIA Optima Hybrid was quieter. Dealers were saying bigger tires equals more noise, I said a lot more money for “luxury” means they should have made it quieter. With everything going into the screen, they should make sure the software is working correctly. Even though it’s a press launch, folks will be skeptical of getting one as the XC90 was plagued with issue for a couple of year after launch and this seems like a recipe for a repeat. I do hope that isn’t the case as they are asking big money for this, then again, there are a lot of folks that will be waiting for these things to have issues and pick one up used once the software issue have been ironed out and the price drops massively.
The 308 mile (probably 300 like the Polestar 3) range for the dual motor version sounds about right but, will be more like 270 in real world driving. The drive showed the car to be pretty smooth for riding on 22″ wheel and tires, that is a big plus. I am surprised though that this top spec version didn’t have perforated seats for cooled seats, as someone else mentioned, without the electrochromatic treatment, if like the XC90, the glass will let in some heat. The bottoms level of the screen could be replaced with hard buttons but, I suspect the voice control should work well for use while driving, haven’t seen anyone test those yet.

Manufacturers seem to be very keen to boast about the mass of recycled materials in the car, but I’d like to hear it as a percentage of the complete mass of the car.
