> The shortage of chips and the high demand for electric cars has caused delivery times for individual models to rise to up to one and a half years, according to an evaluation by Auto Motor und Sport magazine. Based on common online portals for new car purchases, only six of the 30 most popular e-models in Germany are available for delivery within three months, according to the report. In the case of plug-in hybrids, it is even just one car. The average waiting time for electric cars is five to six months.
> The longest waiting time is up to 15 months for the Audi Q4 e-tron, and ten months for the VW ID.3, the Mercedes EQC and the Dacia Spring. Between eight and nine months pass before a VW ID.4, Smart Fortwo and Hyundai Ioniq 5 reach customers. Only the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles can be delivered within one to two months. Three months for the Fiat 500e, Opel Corsa-e and Opel Mokka-e models and the Polestar 2.
> In the case of plug-in hybrids, buyers wait the longest for vehicles from Mercedes and the Volkswagen Group. The Mercedes GLE 350 e has a delivery time of 14 months, followed by the Mercedes A250 e (10). The Seat Leon 1.4 e hybrid has nine months’ delivery time, the Cupra Formentor 1.4 d hybrid six to nine months, as do the two VW models Golf 1.4 eHybrid and Passat Variant GTE (6-9).
