Spring Squasher? We drive the Leapmotor T.03 – China’s bargain-priced city car | Electrifying

evaluation:.

To all you people who have actually been complaining that electrical are too costly, here's a.
reward. An automobile which costs the like a Kia Picanto, but is totally electrical with a 165 mile variety.
Despite the fact that you've never ever become aware of the brand name, it has the support of one of the greatest car.
business worldwide. And it will be built in Europe. It's the ₤ 15,995 .
Leapmotor is a Chinese business which has climbed into bed with , the worldwide.
behemoth which owns Vauxhall, Citroen, Peugeot and Fiat. The first T08s will be integrated in.
China, however soon they are expected to come from a Fiat factory in Poland which will keep the.
tariffs at bay and shipping costs lower. They will be offered through a network of 50 dealerships in.
the UK, usually along with other Stellantis automobiles.

The T03 has a 37.3 kWh battery, which offers 165 miles of range in the main cycle too,.
which is quite usable.

There's a surprising quantity of area for passengers inside the T08, even in the rear. Six.
footers won't be brushing their hair on the roof and while the legroom will be tight it's not.
impossible to get in.

The boot isn't as useful though. The opening is actually narrow and high, and it reveals a.
area of 210 litres– you get 50% more in a Spring. The VW up! has 40 litres more too.
While the exterior looks are deliberately on the cute side, the interior is more conventional.
but it's wise and remarkably well built for the price. There's only one trim level readily available,.
so the only option you are provided is the colour. But that single specification is packed with kit.
The T03 has actually 94bhp– which is much more than the 63bhp of the Spring. It implies it feels.
perky when accelerating and it will gladly stay up to date with traffic on the freeway.
When I drove the automobile– undoubtedly at the perfect temperature level of around 20 degrees Celsius–.
it averaged a practically incredible 10.2 miles per kWh when driving through and between.
towns. To evaluate it more we then hammered down a freeway with the aircon on cold.
enough to trigger frostbite and it still would not dip the average– over 172km– listed below.
9m/kWh.

The T03 may appear like an old Smart and sound as exciting as a parking lot level, however it's a.
truly usable small car with an unexpected amount of performance, passenger area, variety and.
equipment. It drives well too, specifically in town and has astonishing performance– at least in.
ideal conditions.

Which would you purchase one, or would you opt for something from a brand name you know? Or.
perhaps an utilized automobile instead? Let us know in the comments listed below..

Thank you for one of the most interesting reviews I have seen this year.

I love the idea of a single spec which has all the options you are going to get. Presumably that helps keep it at the £16k price. I do not want one, but there is no doubt it could cover most of the journeys I take; and by the way I live in rural Worcestershire and not a city, so not just a city car (lazy journalese like “toddler” or “devastated”). If I want to do a long journey I can always hire something just for the occasion or the holiday or perhaps take somebody’s ICE. Good for Leapmotor and Stellantis.

Mitsubishi (Peugeot and Citroen) were foolish to have ditched the iMiEV(iOn, CZero) so quickly.

A modern EV 2CV is sorely needed. The Ami had 3 years to prove itself to be an overpriced plastic tub on rusty steel square tubing.

I think they believe the e-C3 will fit into that niche. What I don’t get is why they didn’t just stick a Peugeot or Opel/Vauxhall badge on this. It’s a no brainer marketing wise.

    3. @toyotaprius79 Avatar
      @toyotaprius79

@@Whatshisname346I’m sorry, while I welcomed the eC3 as a trend towards affordable EVs, it’s still a Crossover that’s designed and promoted as such to get consumers of the Indian/South Asian, South American and other global markets into SUVs with the same affluent-baiting tactics they used in western markets, to promote Citroën as a mid-luxiry brand and frankly that flies in the face of Citroën’s recent moves again the SUV with the Oli and Ami.

An original C3, C2, C1 and CZero would be decent to have. But of course pitted against minor profit margins being squeezed by the currency inflation created by the most profitable and well sold “cars” in recent years.

Looking at the screen shot at 10:55 it says 8.9 kwh for 100km which equates 6.7 miles per Kwh, which is still excellent but a bit more realistic. Yes it does seem to have a lot of smart four four about the the cut of it’s jib. Rebadge it as a Fiat and it will sell well, as to name call it the EO (Far East in Italian is Estremo Oriente) . Are these anti-dozing cameras purely built in because of NCAP regulations? Because the fact that driver personal data from newer cars is constantly being monetised is a serious concern and any EV that’s as close to analogue as possible (like the eUP, Spring or CZero/iMiEV/iOn) should prove desireable in these uneasy times.

As of July 7th, 2024, all new cars sold in the European Union (EU) are required to be equipped with the following Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS):

Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA): This system alerts the driver to speed limits using signage and digital maps, and can even limit the vehicle’s speed to comply with the current limit.
Lane Keeping Assist (LKA): LKA helps keep the vehicle in its lane by adjusting steering and brakes if the vehicle drifts without signaling.
Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning (DDR-AW): This system monitors driver behavior and alerts the driver if they are showing signs of fatigue or distraction.
Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB): AEB detects obstacles in the vehicle’s path and activates braking to prevent or mitigate collisions.

The T03 is almost half the price, but i wouldnt be surprised if the pcp rates were the same higher. I just looked at a base Kia Picanto for comparison. £287 a month with £289 deposit on the same 8000 miles a year pcp… and that lists at 17k. Sticker price is great, but the finance deals need to be amazing too to get sales….
