Cost cutting to save on production costs and keep profits up. This is what this ‘face-lift’ is all about. The larger screen is the same, as buying in bulk will save in having to have 2 different products to source. Mercedes at the lower levels are not in the same class as Audi of BMW now, and struggling to keep up with Volvo.

Plus no memory seats functions on premium plus spec.

Mercedes seem to be cutting build costs the same way VW did and failed at it, not exactly a looker either, plain on the outside gaudy on the inside. Must try harder!

In my country, people here buy it just for the badge. So many are just base models with no options added on. It doesn’t matter if there’s a superior car and priced better. The badge is everything.

There’s a lot of people out there who’ll turn a blind eye to mediocre, build quality on these premium German brands just to have them posher badges

Some car companies have lost touch with what ergonomics is meant to do. I would bet road accidents will increase with forcing drivers to STARE and PROD at a screen when driving. Basic tactile buttons are massively beneficial and can save lives.

Not that impressive and Mercedes ergonomics continue to confound me. And why does Mercedes continue to put a miserable downturn “face” on the car. That grille of three-pointed stars is a mess. Not a bad car – just not a great one.

So what was the price of the car as tested? adaptive cruise control is useful but always annoying when you have to pay more for packs

0:48 They say on screen the model tested was £35,530

Hopefully better than its weird predecessor with odd controls and a handbrake that was impossible to find.

No Mercedes A class and also Nissan Qashqai both had Renault engine.

It’s not in my book. It troubled me last year and cost me 2 grand to fix it.

Buy a Renault, same engine and gearbox. Still not as nice as Audi or Volvo.

I’ve just recently purchased a new 2023 A200 AMG Line, while I love the car there are certain aspects of the car that are very underwhelming, build quality is very poor for such a premium brand, my previous 2015 Ford Focus ST was much better built in comparison. Take away the media screens, ambient lighting, as well as the other gizmos and you’d have quite a dull car, do I have buyers regret? We’ll kind of, for a 40k car it’s kinda disappointing, my Focus ST was way more fun & engaging to drive, the A200 is plenty quick enough when you push it (for me at least) but there’s just no magic. It’s a nice car, but I worry for future durability & styling becoming dull as newer future models are launched.

It’s a shame how cars like this really have diluted the Mercedes badge of 30 years ago to the gaudy, skin-deep brand it is today. Especially the A class. Why would you get this over a Toyota Corolla (much better made and equiped as standard), besides the badge?

I’ve got a 2020 A-Class A200 AMG-Line Premium and couldn’t be happier. It’s a brilliant manual so I get to avoid that awful auto in them, they’re just so sluggish and take soooo long to kick down its painful. The metal design steering wheel, proper buttons, and trackpad make it better imo than the new ‘facelift’ or rather ‘cutbacks’ model.

I’m very grateful to Mercedes ………..for maintaining the second hand value of our 250e hatchback – virtually all the toys now included plus the touch pad!
