I saw the inside of one in a Honda dealer in the UK. I think it looked awesome like the bridge of a ship or how people in the 70s imagined what the future would be like what with all the wood like trim
I thought I’d post some thoughts on the Honda E after a few people requested I talk about the car and the interior etc.
There will be users here who are way more familiar with the car than me who will be able to chip in with their experience, but this is just my early findings.
I’ve had the car just under a week now, and I absolutely love it.
I’ve owned 3 EV’s before this Honda E.
A BMW i3 (60aH with REX).
An eGolf (worst car I have ever owned).
And a 94aH full electric i3.
The BMW i3 is the best car I’ve ever owned. I just loved it. I only sold my last one due to moving house and not having a drive way to charge. The reasoning behind moving back to an electric car despite still having no off street parking is because my workplace now has chargers and I am a 30 second drive from a Morrisons with a Genie Point rapid charger. So I make it work and so far, so good.
The E is shaping up to be a favourite alongside the i3. I think I’ll always hold the i3 in high regard because it was my first experience with an electric car, and it just blew me away.
The E, though, is a better looking car. In my opinion, of course. I have had so many people in under a week of ownership ask me about the car. Whilst charging, when pulling up at the shop etc. I must have had 5 people ask me questions about it and I must admit, I love talking about it!
The interior is interesting. I am a techy guy, but even I feel a bit overwhelmed with the options. I still need to spend some time digging into what is available here. I generally use Android Auto with my Pixel 6 Pro, which isn’t advertised as being wireless like CarPlay is, but you can enable wireless AA from the system settings. Not the general settings, you have to enable developer settings to do it but the option is set off until you toggle it on. It’s been a bit hit and miss, but since the latest Pixel update from Google on Monday I’ve found it work flawlessly every time now (could just be coincidence).
The screens look great. I think they’re good quality and I could be wrong, but they seem to be adaptive in their brightness as they’re plenty bright enough in sunshine, but don’t blind you with night time driving.
Being able to flip screens to the passenger side is a pretty cool feature.
Before I bought the E, I test drove a Fiat 500e. I liked it, and the range / price were definitely plus points Vs the E, but it was definitely a head / heart situation and I do not regret my choice one bit.
The physical buttons are great on the E. Just enough of them, and all the right ones. The 500 had a little bit of touch screen to control certain things and it just got annoying very quickly. I definitely don’t want everything to be tucked away in menus on a touch screen.
I haven’t had a go with the in built nav. I have no reason to with having Google Maps and I generally don’t trust in car nav systems from previous experiences haha.
Range is taking a bit of a hit with the current winter conditions, although the last few days it’s been around 10-12 degrees here so I’ve not needed the heating on. Preheat the cabin and stick the heated seat and wheel on and I’m golden. I did a charge earlier and my mileage has gone up to 110 with 90 ish percent which is the highest it’s been since ownership. My work is a 6 mile drive and I mostly do town driving so the range is not an issue for me hence me not really worrying about that when I make the decision to buy it. Sure, I’d always take more range, but I’d rather have a car I couldn’t wait to drive everyday than one that was ‘sensible’. I still think Honda could have squeezed more in.
The app is a bit shit. I’ve paid for the remote climate and control subscription with me being the ‘second’ owner (with 60 miles on the clock, lol) and since I’ve activated that it’s been pretty good. Preheat has worked every time.
But I wont be paying for any of the other subscriptions as they all seem pointless.
There are some bits I do want to add to the car. Some official Honda additions, like the illumination plates when you open the door, the arm rest and some rubber mats plus rubber boot liner for the dog. I have a Sprocker (Springer / Cocker cross) and she fits in the boot perfectly.
It’s disappointing those things aren’t standard for the price, but there we have it.
All in all, I love it. I haven’t had enough time with it yet to see if it will dethrone the i3 as my favourite ever car, but it’s well on its way. 🙂
Some of those controls look out of reach on the left side. Is the layout customizable?
I think it’s to much and will be to distracting when driving. It’s a car not a starship.
I think it looks terrific except for the HVAC bolted on controls.

How’s the no mirrors thing?
The designers at Honda should be water boarded for this
