The timing definitely makes it seem like a reaction to the Tesla offering. I’m just glad that “dumb” EVSEs are dropping in price. I’m perfectly happy scheduling charging via my car and don’t need any of the smart features that others offer.
I was also watching this video (https://youtu.be/RMxB7zA-e4Y) yesterday which included a tear down of an EVSE. Makes it seem like the margins are quite good, especially for these “dumb” ones. He was speculating that the most expensive component of these is the cable haha. I’m optimistic that prices could continue to fall as volume increases.
Can someone explain to me the purpose of these J1772 chargers for home use? Can’t you get a similar result for much cheaper by using a NEMA 14-50 outlet?

Damn; I bought one earlier this year! Quality unit though
That seems to be a really well built unit. I’m glad to see them being offered at a reasonable price like this.
Here’s the press release btw: https://grizzl-e.com/notice-on-price-change/
Also notes drop in price for the refurbished units and changes to the shipping policy.
