Ginny loves the 19 – especially some of the mad hot hatchbacks which were developed for rallying. Renault has actually chosen it's going to revive this crazy concept with the % 3E. This car is clearly a direct descendant of a number of the wildest cars and trucks ever made – the Renault 5 and Turbo 2 which were built in the early 19.
Underneath its retro shell lies an absolute beast: 540 horsepower from an innovative set of in-wheel motors fitted to its rear 20 inch wheels which produce a ridiculous 4,800 Nm of torque, It will be fitted with dedicated drift-assist tech and rally-style vertical handbrake and it has a carbon fibre chassis – helping keep the weight down.
0-60 will take under 3.5 seconds putting it firmly in supercar territory.
Does it restore Ginny's electrical dreams from the 1980s? Enjoy as she reveals you all the information.

    We need more pocket rockets, but I’d settle for just the pocket…..smaller cars !

    Love the fact that Renault are smashing it, but it would be far easier for Renault to produce a 500bhp EV for far far less money…. Look a Hyundai Ioniq 5N for £65k

    The 80’s were in a time when working people had money to buy cars and the rich hadn’t quadrupled the price of houses.
    Now the R5T is being exactly built for the rich to put in a glass case in their hallway.

      then you get the Alpine which is the true vision of a proper hot hatch and on lease thats fairly cheap, this is just a show off for renault

      seen the MG4 xpower ? 27K 400 plus BHP beats super cars in a drag race.

      The original 5 turbo was never in the same category as this. This is a proper limited, crazy supercar. I think the base Alpine version would be a much closer match.

    Aside from the body kit the in wheel motors are an interesting change.

    I was going to say the wheels are too big but I guess it’s because of those massive hub motors.

    I would have one in a heartbeat however I don’t have £200,000 it makes the Hyundai 5N look like a bargain at £65,000 still out of my budget. So I bought the Smart #1 Brabus for £43,450 with its impressive 0-60 mph time now at 3.52 seconds since Rocket Launch was added at the last OTA upgrade. Granted it doesn’t look as good as the R5 turbo e but it’s f,ing quick.

      Tesla m3p 600+hp 10s in the 1/4mile 2.8s 0-60mph costs 55k! That power train will be in the new juniper myp here shortly as well. Likely run about 11.2s in the 1/4mile, 0-60 in 3.3s or less and probably cost under 60k!

      @garrycroft4215

      @ I didn’t have £60k just £43,450 was my max spend. Still 3.52 0-62 & 11.69 seconds quarter mile is not bad bang for buck 🤗

    I’ve really become a fan of Renault’s design language of this decade so far. I’ve always been a hatchback fan, but even their electric Megane is a looker… If only Toyota licensed their EV manual gearbox I’m sure this would be even more fun
